Protecting Seniors’ Nest Eggs, providing peace of mind.
Thank your state legislator for closing the foreclosure equity theft loophole to protect Wisconsin seniors.
Wisconsin seniors can rest easy …
Many of Wisconsin’s elected officials supported commonsense legislation closing the foreclosure equity theft loophole, ensuring counties sell foreclosed property in a timely manner and return any excess proceeds to the original property owner.
Foreclosure equity theft was unanimously rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled that the government cannot take more than what it is owed. A loophole in Wisconsin law allowed local governments to avoid selling the foreclosed property in a timely manner, leaving homeowners without the hard-earned equity they had built.
These Wisconsin legislators took matters into their own hands and went to work closing that loophole by requiring local governments to sell the property promptly and return the proceeds to the rightful owner.
